Step One: Prepare your Pond for the Heater

You should only begin to use your floating pond heater when your pond has frozen over. If the ice is more than 2 inches thick, you must drill a hole to place the pond heater into. Do not crack the ice in smaller ponds, as this can cause shock waves that will harm your fish and plants.

Step Two: Inserting the Pond Heater

Once you have selected an area for your pond heater to be located, you can place it into your pond. When selecting an area, try to pick an area within arms reach at the edge of the pond. That way you won't have to walk on the ice.

Step Three: Maintaining your Pond Heater

When the pond heater is in use, remove any snow or ice that remains on the top of the heater. At the end of the season, remove the pond heater from your preformed pond, wipe it down, and store in a cool dry space. Inspect the unit and the electrical cord to ensure it has not damaged throughout the season before packing away.

This pond heater is recommended for ponds up to 1000 gallons. For each 1000 gallons, you will need an additional pond heater.
