CrystalFlo Pump and All-In-One Filter

The CrystalFlo Pond UV unit is a compact all-in-one filter and pump for ponds. It is easy to install and designed for easy maintenance. Its filters perform three types of filtering: mechanical, biological, and anti-algae UV clarification.

CrystalFlo Box

The mechanical filter is a large filtering mass which traps solid particles and ensures that the water is clean and healthy for both plants and fish. The biological filter is made of high-porosity bio media, which encourages beneficial bacteria to develop. Beneficial bacteria help to convert harmful fish waste into harmless fertilizer. The UV-C clarifier helps to eliminate algae that normally grows in the pond.

Installation Instructions

WARNING: Before carrying out any type of maintenance (whether in the water or out of the water), unplug the unit from the electrical socket.

DANGER: Avoid direct exposure to the UV-C radiation. Prolonged exposure to UV radiation can be harmful to the skin and eyes.

  1. Check the UV-C unit to ensure it is functioning. You can see if the UV-C is functioning correctly by looking through the holes of the upper lid. You will also be able to see light through the lamp lid.
  2. Locate the exact place to install the CrystalFlo unit.
  3. Place the filter on a horizontal surface approximately 4" above the bottom of the pond, away from any mud or algae.
  4. Connect the diverter to the hole on top of the CrystalFlo unit. Attach the ball joint to the diverter. Connect the telescopic riser to the ball joint, and then attach your choice of fountain head to the top of the telescopic riser. Once assembled, place the CrystalFlo unit into the water.
  5. To ensure proper water flow to the fountain, the CrystalFlo unit should be sitting horizontally in the pond. Use the ball joint to level the fountain head so that the fountain feature is in the correct position.
  6. The CrystalFlo Pond UV unit is now ready for use. Just plug it in!

Safety Regulations

  1. Prior to connecting the unit to the power outlet, ensure that both the cord and the pump are not damaged.
  2. The pump is built with a Z-type connection, which means that both the cord and the plug cannot be replaced or repaired. If these are damaged, then the entire unit must be replaced.
  3. Before carrying out any type of maintenance on the pump, disconnect the unit from the power outlet. Should the connection plugs or the power outlet get wet, the master switch must be turned off before unplugging the power cord.
  4. The pump must be connected to a grounded outlet.
  5. It is very important that the lamp be protected upstream by a differential switch (overload cut-out).
  6. To prevent accidental dripping from wetting the plug or the power outlet, use the cord to create a drip loop under the power outlet level.
  7. Keep out of reach from children.
  8. When installing and carrying out maintenance on the unit, avoid lifting it by the power cord. Use the ring provided for this purpose.
  9. In order to change the bulb, contact authorized personnel who can keep the IP68 protection degree.
  10. Avoid operating the unit with corrosive and abrasive liquids.
  11. The pump can be used for both internal and external use.
  12. Protect the unit from frost. Do not use the unit or remove it from the water when there is risk of frost.
  13. The unit is completely submersible.
  14. The unit cannot be used in water temperatures higher than 95 degrees Farenheit.

Green Tip:

Don't spray your driveway, sidewalk, deck or porch with either your sprinkler or hose. If it's dirty, use a broom to remove dirt and dust.

Maintenance has to be conducted when the height of the water fountain feature decreases. This should happen approximately once every two months, although it can vary depending on the amount of debris in your water.

To clean the filter: open the upper lid and extract the sponge. Wash the sponge with water. Do not use solvents or detergents.

To clean the pump: It is necessary to remove the pump from the base of the unit. Turn the rotor housing counterclockwise, extract the rotor, taking care not to lose the shock absorbers and the o-ring. Wash the part using water, and check the wear state by turning the rotor (while keeping the shaft firm). The turning should be smooth. Reassemble all the parts while paying attention to the correct placement of all the components.

To clean the UV-C Lamp: If algae proliferates, it is necessary to check to see if the UV-C lamp is functioning correctly. The UV-C bulb should be changed each year (after every 9000 hours). If the bulb works, clean the quartz tube. To clean the tube, ensure that the unit is unplugged (both the pump and the lamp), and remove the upper lid. Remove the lamp lid using a screwdriver. Extract the quartz tube. Remove any limestone using a scale-remover product. Check to see that the quartz tube has not been damaged.

To change the UV-C bulb: To carry out this operation, ensure that the unit is unplugged (both pump and lamp). Remove the upper lid, and remove the lamp lid using a screwdriver. Extract the quartz tube, and the UV-C lamp, and replace it with a new one WITHOUT TOUCHING THE NEW BULB. Touching a new UV bulb with your hands will shorten its life span. Instead, use a kleenex to handle the new UV bulb. WARNING: It is advisable to use a Phillips UV-C lamp. Check to see that the quartz tube has not been damaged. Finally, reassemble all parts and check to make sure that all gaskets in the lamp tap are placed correctly.

This product is under warranty for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase for manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover any parts that may wear (i.e. the rotor and UV-C lamp). The warranty covers replacement of the faulty part only. In the event of improper use, mishandling, or negligence by the owner, user, or retailer, the warranty automatically becomes null and void. Furthermore, the warranty is invalid if there is no receipt accompanying the warranty claim.
