Pond Size Calculations
Determining the gallonage of your pond can be important when looking to purchase a pump or to install a filtration system in your pond. Because your water needs to be fully circulated once every two hours in order to keep it healthy and completely filtered, you don't want a pump that is not powerful enough for your needs. In the same way, if you get a filtration system that doesn't handle the total amount of water you have in your pond, you won't be able to keep your pond completely filtered and may end up with debris or algae in your water.
In order to calculate the gallons in your pond, you just need to use one of the following simple calculations.
Your Pond is an Exact Square or Rectangle
- Length x Width x Depth x 7.48 = Gallons
Your Pond is an Exact Circle
- 3.14 x Radius x Radius x Depth x 7.48 = Gallons
Your Pond is Irregularly Shaped
- Average Length x Average Width x Average Depth x 7.48 = Gallons
